A sign I made to remind myself what I had done. The second time I got bronchitis, and again was coughing up little pink dots of blood, I decided that ten years of smoking was enough--I just couldn't do it anymore. Besides, it got to where it hurt all the next day if I smoked a couple of cigarettes the night before. Thus, I'm lucky that my constitution was weak enough that I couldn't go on...
I got an 8-inch nail and crucified a fresh pack of cigarettes into the wall stud so that I would always have some around while I was quitting. I told myself that if I really wanted one, I could have one--after pulling the nail out of the 2X4 with my fingers.

It was little pink dots in the goop I was hackin' up. The bronchitis itself was a bacterial infection, quickly dealt with by antibiotics. But still, having a LUNNNNNGGGGG DISEEEEAAAASSSSEEEE was very attention-getting.
Again, note that this was in 1992--haven't done tobacco since.
