Shalashaska was the third character I played in the Underdark campaign. (Crissaegrim was the 4th, actually. I posted out of order.)
It might be hard to spot him in the picture if you're not looking for him. He's nestled in the holster on Ocelot's hip.
I had lost 2 characters at this point (The Wererat Warlock I posted, and a Aarakocra paladin I haven't drawn satisfactorily), so I wanted to try something weird and unique. I found a homebrew class coloquially known as the Gunlock. The idea is that your patron answered your wishes for power and turned you into a firearm. If you take Pact of the Chain, you can get a special familiar called The Stranger, who is a humanoid that doesn't speak but can understand and communicate with you. It's very interesting.
When Shalashaska was introduced, the players thought he was the humanoid, and I let the facade go for a while until I ended up having to have someone else wield me because Ocelot died (well, he was unsummoned), at which point they realized they could still hear me, and could somehow wield me with proficiency. I could also wield myself using mage hand, which was silly.
He was fun, but eventually I retired him because he was awkward. Couldn't really use magic armor or items because he was a gun, and had a lot of limitations. Ocelot never really got enough health to stay in the fight, etc etc.
Fucking demigorgon sent two minions to come and take me, so I must have been important.
