Karen, or Karry, as her friends like to call her, is quite a mixed package, with a less-than-desirable upbringing which shaped her personality into one of dominance.

Her life started like any other, two parents, no complications with her birth, basic stuff, really. She performed average in elementary school, being a bit of a troublemaker. The trouble she got into was innocent in nature, a few ‘kick me’ signs, expletives in chalk, the occasional argument with another hard-headed student. Ultimately, her own hard-headedness became a forefront of her personality, giving her a reputation for never backing down, even when she, herself, knew she was wrong. Slowly but surely, this stern nature proved negative, putting her in conflict with many peers in high school, she became known as the one who never started a fight, but surely ended it.

Sophomore year was where her life took a tragic turn, with her mother coming down with an illness, becoming bedridden for the rest of her life, which was unfortunately cut short six months later, passing away in her sleep. This event had a profound effect on Karen, and her father especially, who resorted to alcohol in his grief. Karen began to spend much less time at home, as her father would constantly lash out in alcohol-induced rage, all spurred forward by an intense depression. Eventually, she would leave home all together, living with a close friend, who, admittedly, was a somewhat positive influence in her life, compared to many of her other friends, most of which were involved in gangs, drugs, or general petty crime. Her friend’s family was quite unhappy with the presence of a leather jacket-clad delinquent in their home, given the fact that they were a rather stand-up family, known for causing no trouble, and being honest workers who were decently wealthy.

This new arrangement is possibly the only reason she hadn’t found her home in a prison instead, as the people who had allowed her to live with them still enforced a few policies on her, which she begrudgingly accepted, such as not getting into fights, vandalising property, so on and so forth. She cut down on this activity quite significantly, effectively going cold-turkey. Her personality, however, never ceased to come off as aggressive, even when she was playful, it came off as combative or argumentative, which she would rarely follow up with an apology. Social dominance is a key part of her presence in groups, where she will attempt to become a leader-type figure, dictating what the group would do in a loose, subtle way.
