I wanted to do this little idea for a long time, but what inspired it is when a friend (who would remain anonynous) asked me to come to their defence after being banned from a forum for defending homosexuals.
Regardless of the reasons, nothing irks be more then bigotry, and don't get me STARTED on those that use violence and hated against us! In particular, I hate it when people bully us and asume gays are weak "girly men" (yes I know sometimes people can be quite misogynist too.)
Therefore my personal symbol for "gay power" has since been the leather look, mostly for the intimidation and dominace associated with it... dominance above the haters because those that love are always superior to those that hate in my eyes. It is my expression of the strong homosexual that never apologizes. Well, ok... mostly it's because I like the leather culture and that bondage stuff lol. But I'm not a victim! When they say all gays go to hell they never counted on me.
I AM HELL
*deposits 2 cent and steps down from soapbox*
oh yeah that's mace btw I was feeling a little...how do you say... medievil?

And yes...it does (misogyny)
Me and some friends were discussing this stuff just a while ago too... it's freaking 2006 and "omg the future!!!!!111!11" and some Americans out there still have their mind set in the Middle Ages: make homosexuality illegal, make the Christian church law, women are inferior etc. etc.
...oh please... the religious right can cry me a river lol

Ugh, I'd have to agree that too many folks think they can push us around because they think we're "slipper-clad fairies" with the brawn of a sponge cake.
Probably the most common comment I get when I come out to someone is "But you don't LOOK/ ACT gay!" As if having one's hands dirty with motor oil once in a while was a badge of hetero virility.
Merf... Sorry for the rant.

hehe don't worry I agree %100
the only thing that makes a homosexual different from a heterosexual is sexual preference, anything else is just a stereotype people have in their mind.
We are just as normal as everyone else... or was that just as abnormal as everyone else... meh it's hard to tell sometimes

lovely little rant there... oh, and nice pic, too (;
I'd like to point out that I'm straight, and have nothing against gays, however it is my opinion that while stereotypical generalizations are false, the stereotypes do exist, and there are those individuals who do drive me up the wall with their excessively feminine speech and behavior (more feminine than any respectable member of the female gender). It's these people who I dislike, not for being gay, but for being obnoxiously persistant in making it visible and audible wherever they go. They don the sterotype intentionally in an attempt at what I can only imagine is to force tolerance on everyone else they encounter, when all it succeeds in doing is annoying people. I'm almost as insulted by the simple stupidity of the belief that such behavior could in fact be helping their cause as I am by the behavior itself.

Yes I know the type you speak of
I'm not in support of anoying people with gayness
I support a homosexual's right to be themselves, as there are many within my own country who want to take away rights, not just the right to marriage, but the right to exist entirely.
At the same time I've known feminine guys before, some even being straight, that don't take it over the edge. Of course, they're not putting on any kind of act, they're just being their genuine selves. And I find it kind of charming when it's not overdone.
