“Chu!” cried Chuchu and Joule as the two powered the cheese-making machines to create a fresh batch of the fattening goodness for more Pikachu to consume. After yesterday’s party their guests had devoured their supply down to the last chunk of cheddar. Now they were hard at work, preparing for when Zaron would have his next wave of electric mice to feast upon.
“This is certainly a lot easier when I don’t have to provide the power myself,” commented Chuchu, able to do this with greater ease with a buddy to take on half the power output.
“Well, two chus are better than one,” smiled Joule. “It’s a shame we can’t use that power bank you were filling up yesterday for this as well.”
“Yeah, but these machines need a lot greater output than the battery can provide,” Chuchu explained. “But at least it can power the rest of this place for a decent amount of time. Still, if we can take over the town then we could just connect to the power plant and not have to worry about providing the power ourselves to make such wonderful-smelling cheese.”
“You can say that again,” drooled Joule as he lifted up his nose to whiff the scent of the dairy products their odor now quite pungent. “It’s starting to smell really good. I’d be tempted to try some, but I’m worried that I might make Zaron tempted enough to gobble me up too.”
“I’m sure he’ll refrain from doing so, at least till you are more valuable to him as a snack than a minion,” joked Chuchu.
“Such good Chus,” smiled Zaron as he waited on the second floor. Rubbing his gut, he could feel the few new plush inches he gained from all those Pikachubs he had eaten once they had all been collected in his body. To have such a wonderfully huge meal after so long made his cheeks crackle with delight. “I’d love to eat like that every day if I could and if this new scheme of mine bears fruit I just very well might be able to.” Suddenly, before him, a light appeared, slowly taking shape of a small cat-like creature with a long tail. With a smirk on his face, Zaron watched with delight. “About time you got here, Nyte.”
“You know, I’m not some errand boy,” he scoffed as he rested on a bubble so he could be eye level with the gargantuan Raichu. Nyte was a Mew, though one with a darker purple coloration compared to others of his kind. He lacked the typical powers of regular Mews, but at the same time, had unique talents of his own. That and his connections to the underground made him quite a dangerous Pokemon to be on the wrong side of. “I am quite busy making deals with a lot of top clients and it rarely even leaves me time for my own endeavors. Speaking of such things, I’m curious to know what you are up to that’ll require a whole mess of Dusk Stones.”
“I’d love to tell you,” answered Zaron, poking Nyte’s bubble with a paw. “But how about showing me the goods first. I doubt you would come all this way and not bring me what I asked for.”
“Dusk Stones might be rare through more savory means, but with my connections it is hardly a challenge,” he bragged and produced a rather sizeable bag that he dropped onto Zaron’s gut. Reaching inside, Zaron pulled out a pawful of Dusk Stones and then began feeling around the inside of the bag again to discover there were plenty more. “You wanted as many as I could get, so I hope a few dozen is adequate.”
“I know you wouldn’t let me down,” answered Zaron with a grin as he returned the ones in his paw to the bag. They are more than enough.”
“Glad to hear it,” he replied. “But, about my pay.”
“Of course,” nodded the obese Raichu, making his face jiggle. Grabbing a thick role of PokeDollars, he offered them to the dark Mew. “Quite a deal for some Dusk Stones.”
“Just keep it quiet where you got this,” Nyte reminded him. “But now that the transaction’s done, care to elaborate why you need these things? I’m assuming for a means of Evolution, but that’s quite different from your typical need to devour all the world’s Pikachu.”
“And that hasn’t changed,” Zaron assured him. “I am merely working to strengthen my forces so that I need not continued my worthy crusade from the shadows. To do so would only force me to retreat the instant light is brought upon my plot, something that has happened many a time already. No, from now on I must take control of the situation and make it so that I no longer need be the one on the run. I’ll make all others flee before me to pray they do not end up in my clutches. I intend to take control of this town and make it my own.”
“That is quite a bold proclamation,” chuckled Nyte, not from amusement, but sheer admiration for such drive. “And how do the Dusk Stones fit into this plan?”
“It was Dusk Stones that transformed me into the Dufflepouch Raichu you see before you,” he explained. “And I know the means to turn other Raichu into this as well. With them as my army, we shall take over this town and make it my own feeding grounds.”
“You sound more like a monster monster rather than a Pocket Monster when you talk like that,” commented Nyte. “But who am I to judge. Just do your thing and enjoy yourself.”
“A pleasure doing business with you,” smirked Zaron as he started to suck up all the Dusk Stones into his tail pouch as the first step for the special evolution. When they were all inside of him, he turned to see Nyte still there. “Uh, is there anything else you need?”
“Nah,” he shook his head. “I just figured I’d stick around to watch everything unfold. Admittedly, I am quite curious by all this. Just know, I am neither here to aid or hinder you. Just go about your business like I’m not even here.”
“Suit yourself,” replied Zaron as he got up and made his way over to his two Pikachu cohorts. “How’s it going over here?”
“Just taking a little breather,” reported Chuchu. “We’re pretty well ahead of schedule with cheese production. We’ll have way more than enough by tonight for any more Pikachu fattening.”
“That’s excellent to hear,” praised Zaron. “Now, about those Raichu. About when will they be coming over, Joule?”
“This evening,” he answered. “I just told them to come over, but they don’t know for what.”
“That’s fine,” he replied. “They’ll know soon enough. And then tonight, the city will be all mine.”
“All for the the glory of Zaron,” worshiped the two Pikachu.
“And for my dinner,” he smirked.
The sun was dimming over the horizon when the group of a few dozen Raichu entered the cheese factory, curious as to why they were asked to meet there. Upon entering the building, it was completely cleared out of all the tables, chairs, and party games that had been used for the Pikachu trap, the previous day. However, there was a lingering cheese aroma that made them drool a bit.
“So, did they call us here to sample cheese or something,” wondered one of the Raichu. “Cause I’m hankering for a hunk of gouda.”
“I’m sorry to say it isn’t cheese that you’ve been brought here to chew,” Joule informed them. He had on a pair of shades to hide his pink eyes.
“Then why are we here?” wondered another Raichu.
“You’ll find out as soon as everyone arrives,” he answered as a couple more Raichu walked in. “And I believe that is everyone. Now, just go into the next room and all will be revealed.” As they headed into the next room, Joule locked the front door to ensure none of them would be able to escape if they tried to.
“This is a little exciting,” one commented. “I’ve never been asked to come some place out of the blue like this.”
“I hope this isn’t about getting us to join a cult like Giriatinism. I’m a devote Arcolith.”
“You are? And here I thought you were Mewish like me.”
“What if they want us to join the Church of Psyduckology?”
“I highly doubt this is about converting to a new religion or joining a cult,” another Raichu interrupted them. “Probably just some dumb sales pitch to make us buy steak knives or to get us to sell them. One or the other.”
“It’s nothing of the sort like any of that,” promised Chuchu as then entered the room and saw a bunch of chairs for them to sit on. “Just take a seat and we’ll begin in a moment.”
“Now I’m getting timeshare vibes,” groaned one of the Raichu as he didn’t take a seat with the others. “If that’s that what all this is about then I’m leaving right now.”
“Oh, no,” promised Zaron as he waddled his way over from the stairs, his body jiggling with each step he took, the ground shaking a bit under his girth. “Even I’m not THAT evil to deal in timeshares… unless you count sharing time in my belly.”
“What on Arceus’s green Earth is that thing?” wondered the Arcolith Raichu.
“I’m a Raichu like all of you,” answered Zaron. “But also so much more. Would any of you care to become more as well?”
“What’s that even mean?” asked the Raichu on stage, looking quite nervously at the Raichu that outsized and outweighed him by a mile. “What kind of a Raichu are you?”
“A Dufflepouch Raich,” he explained. “Zaron’s the name and it’s nice to meet my new army.”
“Zaron?!?” he cried. “You are that crazy Raichu that terrorized this town and tried to eat all the Pikachu.”
“And back to finish the job,” he added. “And this time, I will succeed. All I need is help from more Raichu and together we will rule this town.”
“Forget it!” argued the Raichu closest to him. “You are nuts and any Raichu that would help you- MMPH!”
Without any hesitation, on his part, Zaron shoved the defiant Raichu’s head into his maw. Then, picking him up, he began to swallow the plump mouse whole, one big gulp at a time. The sight alone confirmed the rumors of his insatiable, gluttonous nature. Frozen in absolute terror as the scene before them, all the Raichu could do was stare in shock as their fellow Raichu was devoured so easily. Before their eyes they saw him completely vanished into Zaron’s belly, doomed to become more blubber on his body.
“Urp!” he belched. “Not bad. I’ve gotten quite well adjusted to voring quite large things now. I could probably fatten up Pikachubs twice as big to devour now.” Looking at the Raichu, they appeared on the verge of fleeing. “Ahem, as you have all just seen, you can either become a part of my team or become a part of my body. The choice is yours.”
“W-What do we gotta do?” asked one Raichu, not keen on the later option after seeing a fellow Raichu eaten so effortlessly and didn’t want to share his fate.
“Just rest within my tailpouch for a while and embrace your transformation into a Dufflepouch Raichu,” he explained. “After that, you just wait for the evolution to take place. It’s as simple as that.”
“We go into your tailpouch?” wondered one of the Raichu. “How do we even get in there?”
“Like this,” he demonstrated, using his tail on the Raichu and sucked him up into his body through it with the same ease as when he vored the first Raichu. “There, and in a few hours I’ll let him out, reborn.”
“And then you’ll do the same thing to the rest of us, one at a time?” questioned another Raichu, seeing this as something that’d take days to do.
“I can do you all in one go,” Zaron told them and then proceeded to suck all the Raichu up his tail one after another. Fearfully, the Raichu watched their fellow electric mice get taken into the even more massive one’s body till it was their turn. They didn’t do anything to flee, certain that they’d end up going down his other end if they showed any kind of resistance. With a lack of other options they just saw this as a preferable alternative to being eaten.
“Sounds like Zaron’s getting his army ready,” commented Chuchu as he and Joule peeked in just as Zaron finished tail voring the last of the Raichu, his lower body so swollen from the sizable group that he became too bottom heavy to even waddle from where he sat.
“That’s putting it mildly,” commented Joule. “He looks stuffed to the max, almost like he’s pregnant.”
“That’s one to put it,” smirked Zaron as he rubbed his bloated parts. “I am giving birth to my army and, when they emerge from within me, they will help me to take total control of this town and all the Pikachu within it.”
As with Zaron’s own transformation into a Dufflepouch Raichu, a lot of time was needed for the energy given off by the collection of Dusk Stones to take effect on the normally unaffected Pokemon like a Raichu. Zaron had no idea what was going on inside his body beyond what he could feel. At first, there was quite a lot of fidgeting as the Raichu squirmed about to get comfortable while they were squished so tightly together. After some time had passed, the uncomfortable movement ceased and the Raichu housing his fellow orange mice was able to relax more.
“They’re coming along nicely,” Zaron thought as he rubbed his belly contently. He was certain it felt like it was bulging bigger too as the Raichu inside were growing larger like he had from his own evolution. “Soon, they will be my minions and we will take over this town and all the Pikachu that inhabit it.”
“What will we do once all the Pikachu are eaten?” wondered Chuchu.
“Present company excluded, of course,” added Joule.
“There are plenty more Pikachu in this world than just here,” answered Zaron. “We’ll go out and capture them all. I’ll conquer the entire world if I have to in order to complete my goal and nothing will stop me.”
“They’re ready,” Zaron finally spoke, days later as a feeling within his massively bloated body told him what he couldn’t know any other way.
“They are?” yawned Chuchu as he and Joule awoke from lazing about as they waited for Zaron’s army to be created.
“Oh, let’s see them!” Joule cheered eagerly as they watched Zaron start to push them out through his tail, large bulges slowly working their way to the tip where they popped out, curled up like balls. Slowly, they stretched and got to their feet, larger than they had been prior. Each was just like Zaron now, with a unique tailpouch that was perfect for storing things in their body.
“All hail, Zaron,” they all spoke as they got down on one knee to bow before him.
“Glad to see you all have embraced this change and me as your leader so readily,” he smirked.
“It must be your influence on them while they are in your body,” suggested Chuchu. “After all, spending a little time with you will draw any Pokemon to your cause.”
“Or maybe it’s just your magical pheromones,” pointed out Joule.
“Perhaps both,” chuckled Zaron as he watched his two tinies minions squabble a bit. “Anyway, the time has come for us to set my plan into motion. We will storm the streets and conquer this town in one swift coup. Joule, Chuchu, if you would please brief them.”
“R-Right,” nodded Joule as he and Chuchu quickly walked over to the corner where they had a map of the town with circles drawn over several locations. There were also pictures of all the Pokemon who had authority in the town, from the mayor to the police chief, and any other Pokemon Joule could think of that they had to get out of the way in order to ensure their takeover was complete.
“In order for this plan to work,” explained Chuchu. “We must be swift and thorough. We must take out all those in charge and capture several key locations in the town, including the town hall, the police station, and every way in and out of the city to ensure word of what is happening does not reach the outside world.”
“Given our limited numbers,” added Joule. “You each will split up and capture every Pokemon you can in your area, in particular any of the key figures we have listed. If you are the one to capture that key figure then you will be rewarded with that position of power in once Zaron takes over.”
“And whoever brings me back the most Pikachu will become my right hand Raichu as well,” added Zaron, starving for more tasty, electric mice after being deprived of eating more while he had been nurturing his army.
“So, grab your team shirts and then get out there and show them who is in charge now,” concluded Chuchu as he opened a box with black t-shirts with “Team Zaron” written on the front, the ‘Z’ in Zaron a Raichu tail while the rest were regular white letters.
“Nice touch,” chuckled Zaron. “I approve.”
“It was my idea,” bragged Joule, causing Chuchu’s cheeks to crackle with a bit of jealousy.
The small army of Raichu slipped on their team shirts and then made their way out of the cheese factory and into the town. The civilian Pokemon didn’t know what to make of the strange new breed of electric mice as they passed by, though the smirk on their faces were evidence enough that they were up to no good. The t-shirts they were all sporting was downright spoilery, but like the calm before the storm, everyone just stared in awe, not sure how to react until something actually happened.
Once the first Raichu reached their assigned destinations, the takeover began just as swift and terrible as Zaron had hoped. With their vacuum-like tails, the Dufflepouch Raichu began sucking up any Pokemon that got in their way as they made a move on their targeted Pokemon. The terror all the onlookers felt quickly brought them to a panic that spread throughout the entire town. This only played to Team’s Zaron’s advantage as they were able to continue capturing more Pokemon while they were confused and disorganized.
“This is so easy,” they cackled learning and enjoying their new bodies and abilities. Rubbing their guts it was quite clear that Zaron’s influence did have an impact on them with how much satisfaction trapping other Pokemon in their bodies felt. Seeing all the Pokemon flee before them also activated a hunter instinct in them, enticing them to continue hunting down more Pokemon to collect in their bodies. “I can’t wait to see how many Pokemon I can hold.”
“It’s Zaron!” the fearful townsfolk cried. “He’s back!”
“Hide if you’re a Pikachu or he’ll eat you!”
“I’m not a Pikachu, but I’m gonna hide anyway!”
“Heheh, look at them running around in circles like a Poochyena chasing its tail,” snickered Zaron as he watched the from the highest vantage point in the factory.
“Town hall and the police station have been captured,” reported Chuchu after he put down the phone in the office. “Also, all the Raichu at the town gates have gotten them closed so nobody should be able to escape now.”
“What about the Pokemon capable of flying or teleporting away?” questioned Zaron.
“Fortunately, there are only a handful of flightworthy Pokemon in this town and even fewer capable of using Teleport,” explained Joule. “The Raichu are doing their best to capture them into their belly pouches. Since the Dusk Stones made the Raichu part Dark Type the move Teleport won’t work inside their bellies.”
“That is all good to know,” smirked Zaron. “It was indeed a great idea to add you to the team. Now, we just need to wait for my army to finish taking over. Heh, if I knew how much fun it was to be a conquerer I would have tried it ages ago.”
“Kind of ironic that the town had a wall built to keep it safe from you,” pointed out Chuchu. “But instead it’s just trapped them with you instead.”
“I am rather curious to know how you got in here in the first place,” commented Joule. “It seems almost impossible a Pokemon of your size could get in here without being seen.”
“Well, seeing as I wasn’t welcome here anymore,” he explained. “I had to actually mail myself to the factory.”
“The postage only cost a small fortune,” added in Chuchu. “And I still have the taste of stamps on my tongue.”
“But now, no longer do I have to sneak around and hide in order to get a decent meal,” cackled Zaron. “Now it is my food that’ll be on the run from me!”
“Master Zaron,” called one of his Raichu henchmen. He looked quite rotund as dozen of Pokemon were squirming around in his belly pouch. “It is done.”
“You mean,” replied Zaron, his heart almost skipping a beat upon hearing this.
“The city is yours,” he answered. “We’re still rounding up any Pokemon attempting to defy you into our tail pouches and unloading them in the jail when we get filled up. However, as things are, most of the citizens are willing to submit themselves to your rule so long as no harm will befall them.”
“So long as they aren’t Pikachu, then I have no reason to give them a second thought,” he answered as he got up and proceeded to the front door.
“Master?” asked Chuchu. “Where are you going?”
“To the town hall to make an announcement,” he answered with great delight in his voice. “No time like the present to tell them how things will be from now on.”
“I’ve also brought along some Pikachu for you to enjoy,” the Raichu added.
“Leave them with Joule and Chuchu to fatten up for me later,” he replied. “I’ve longed to be able to devour Pikachu without fear of being thwarted and now that I have it, waiting a little longer won’t hurt.”
Arriving at town hall, he approached the podium where the Raichu who had been tasked with securing it stood. “Master, it is good to see you,” he bowed before him.
“Nice seeing you too, Mr. Mayor,” chuckled Zaron as he tapped upon the microphone, causing feedback to be heard throughout the town. “Greetings everyone, this is your new master, Zaron, speaking” he proclaimed and his voice reached everyone in town, from his loyal minions to the Pokemon futilely resisting his new regime, to the folks who had surrendered and trembled nervously at whatever was to come next, and to the Pikachu who knew how much danger they were in and all they could now was hide and hope that would be enough to avoid becoming Zaron’s next meal.
“As you all know, I am now in charge of the town of… Zarontown. Yeah, that’ll do. Ahem, anyway, I’m a rather easygoing Raichu and, under my rule, life for most will remain unchanged. Obey me and you will live in peace with me. Defy me and you will live as a piece of me. As for any Pikachu, and I’m certain, I have yet to eat every last one in this town, hide all you want, but that will only delay the inevitable. I am certain a quick search through townhall will help me to get an exact count of how many of you remain, resident or otherwise. I don’t know yet if I would like to eat you all at once or prolong it all in some more dramatic manner. Seeing as I no longer need to be in hiding, I think the later might afford me more leisurely time to truly savor your Pikachuness and enjoy it I will. So, do all you can while you still have time. Run, hide, or even try to fight me. Pray to whatever Pokemon God you believe in, but know that I will be the one who wins in the end, because this is now my town and I’m the one making the rules.”
Alone on the road, a duo of Tauros had been pulling a cart for quite a few days. In the cart was a small team of Pokemon consisting of a Chespin, Noctowl, Emolga, Spinda, and an Espurr. They were known throughout as Team Unown.
“Hey, why is out supplies simply Ghastly?” asked Guts the Chespin.
“I’m really not in the mood for some lame jokes right now,” groaned the Espurr, Seer, as her stomach grumbled, along with everyone else’s. “I’m far too hungry.”
“Because they’re both lighter than air,” he finished despite the lack of interest in his jokes.
“Uh, I don’t get it,” admitted Lucky the Spinda as he scratched his head.
“It’s because a Pokemon like Ghastly that lacks much of a physical form is virtually weightless,” explained Holmes the Noctowl. “Simply put, he’s commenting on how we’re completely out of supplies.”
“Oh,” giggled Lucky. “That’s pretty funny.”
“No, that joke was lame,” Guts groaned. “I’m too hungry to come up with any A material.”
“There’s little difference between your best jokes and your worst,” Luna the Emolga pointed out.
“But he does bring up a valid point,” stated Holmes. “We need to find a town and get resupplied, as well as rest and recover too. I feel so tired I don’t even have the strength to go to sleep.”
“How does that even work?” wondered Luna, not used to seeing their leader awake while the sun was still up.
“Do you know if there is a town coming up?” asked Guts to the Tauros.
“One is coming up,” one of them nodded. “Everyone stops there to resupply when going across this area.”
“There is it,” stated the other Tauros as a large walled town came into view.
“That’s a relief,” sighed Seer. “I’d like to stay a whole week to recoup.”
“Then full speed ahead!” ordered Guts excitedly and drawing on what energy the tired Tauros could muster, they hurried over, just as eager for a rest.
Upon reaching the southern gate, they were greeted by a Furret standing guard. “Who goes there?” he asked them.
“We’re Team Unown,” answered Guts. “We’re here to rest and resupply.”
“Oh, a Pokemon team,” he replied as he looked them over. “I don’t know if I’ve heard of you, but you seem like a capable bunch.”
“Why?” wondered Emolga. “Is there something you need help with?”
“As a matter of fact,” he started to say, but he suddenly froze up, the corner of his eye glancing at a security camera aimed right at him. “I was just curious. I always wanted to be on a Pokemon team since I was a Sentret, but what can ya do? Come on in and, well, enjoy your stay.” Pulling the level, the gate opened and the Tauros then pulled the cart in.
“Thanks,” Lucky told the Furret.
“Eh, don’t thank me,” he said a bit of sadness in his voice. “I was just doing my job.”
“Are you sure nothing is wrong?” wondered Seer.
“Everything in Zarontown is fine,” he told her. “Just enjoy a nice, long stay here.”
“Indeed,” yawned Luna. “A week here would probably be very nice.”
“Y-Yeah,” a weak he chuckled nervously. “Well, see you around.”
The Tauros pulled the cart into the city and found a place to park it and finally be free of the bridles on their backs. “We’re gonna grab a bite to eat somewhere, but we’ll meet up with you lot when we’re getting ready to leave,” they told the team.
“Then we’ll see you all then,” waved Guts as the Tauros took their leave.
“So, what should we do first?” wondered Luna. “Food or sleep?”
“I’d say an investigation is in order,” replied Holmes.
“Why?” wondered Seer. “Because that Furret was acting a little weird?”
“It’s more than that,” he explained looking around at the townsfolk with a rather intense glare. “Something about this town, feels funny. It’s like there’s a tension hanging in the air and I get the feeling we’re being watched. And that name, Zarontown. I get the feeling I’ve heard it somewhere before and not in a good way.”
“Don’t say things like that, Luna cried. “Now you’re making me paranoid. I know we solve mysteries, but maybe this whole being awake in the day is confusing you.”
“Perhaps,” admitted Holmes. “I don’t have any evidence other than a feeling. Nevertheless, I suggest we all tread carefully while we are here.”
“Then let’s get to it!” cheered Guts running ahead eagerly, doing anything but treading carefully as he pulled Lucky by the paw to follow after him. “Whatever mysterious happenings are going on. We will get to the bottom of this.”
“So much for a restful break,” sighed Seer.
WomblesFan (the rest of it)“Chu!” cried Chuchu and Joule as the two powered the cheese-making machines to create a fresh batch of the fattening goodness for more Pikachu to consume.
