The actor who played Hochstetter did such a marvellous job making him an evil creature, and most of it was that nasal nails-on-a-chalkboard, verge-of-an-aneurism voice. It's amusing to learn he was born in Nashville, Tennessee, and played the Appalachian banjo. I'd love to find out what accent he was using, because it's a very peculiar one--the way he draws out the "o" sound into an "Ahaohw" is striking.
