03'38, 3.3MB (damn .mp3s. Where's .ogg support?), original, instrumental.
Well, I was working on my tapping and I struck something that sounded kind of cool. Wrote a few other pieces and slapped them together (note: this is how I write most of my stuff). The first thing you'll notice different about this one is two guitar tracks. Holyshit! Actually, most of the rhythm guitar was written last-minute.
So you know about my not-being-able-to-take-guitar-back-to-college problem. I could've written better parts for this if I had more time, but alas! Not mine. On to continue my recording binge. I'll probably just get the raw stuff for my other songs down, and then rearrange them later.
Oh, and where the hell's the metal category? *grumble*
Misc. specs:
Recorded in Garageband with a Schecter C1 Elite.
Sound: Garageband virtual amp.
Creation Time: About 2 days of playing around (er...writing), maybe an hour a day.

Cool idea, and one I've been experimenting with.
Yeh, I officially love and hate Garageband now. I love it because it's simple, organized, and functional. I hate it because the virtual amps are so hard to get right. I still have to tweak it a lot, especially the distortion settings as you said.
I'm holding out for either Soundtrack Pro or the ability to have my 120W in my dorm. :)
But right now I can't re-record because I don't have my guitar back until after Xmas.
Thanks for commenting!

I love the intro riff... The minor tonality and the accidentals you throw in give it almost a Lamb of God-ish sound.
Oooh, a C-1? I've played a lot of those. I love 'em. What pickups do you have in them? if you've got the EMGs, you can definitely turn down your distortion a bit.
Anyhow, sounds good and i hope to hear more.

Nah, my pickups are just the Duncan-Designed ones. I wish I had EMGs! :P
I'm still working on amp settings...Garageband seems to hate giving me good tone, so I attempt to put in a bunch of distortion to distract froom that. But then, of course, I cannot even distinguish separate notes, so I go for a mid-range compromise. It's bad, I know, but hopefully I'll be getting a better amp simulator soon. Can you recommend anything?
So yeah, intro riff, thanks for the compliment! I actually pretty much fucked up the recording on that, and I'm going to re-record after new amp simulation is acquired. I do like the riff, I think there's a lot I can do with it that I didn't. I now officially consider this "old stuff", marking another milestone in my self-teaching.

Umm... As far as suggestions go, i'm not sure how much help i can be, seeing as the only recording hardware i've used is what i have, a Line6 TonePort.
It's worked really nicely for me. There's an assload of tones to choose from, (bass, guitar, drums, vox, keyboards, etc.) and the effects processing is second to none.
It comes with Ableton LIVE, which is one of the most powerful recording programs money can buy. But, unless you're willing to cough up 300 buckeroos, you're only going to be able to do a max of 4 audio tracks and 4 midi tracks at the same time. (the demo is pretty limited, but it's been enough for everything i have posted here.)
But i really would suggest it. It's fast, doesnt' lag your computer (unless you're working on something from 1902.) and records really pristine audio.
...and that's all i have to say about that.
Peace out and keep posting. Rock on.
