Slavery is a common occurrence for kobolds, they are co-dependent as a species so individual kobolds found away from dragons or kobold clans are easy to manipulate.
Peri was one such kobold whose physicality made them much more suited to entertainment then physical work. Arhan first met Peri when they were scheduled to be auctioned off by their old master.

Taking pity on the slave Arhan went to negotiate with the dancers master, the old master was weak willed and a simple suggestion was enough to convince him that he should let Peri go.
Arhan could not just leave the newly free kobold by themselves and has taken the blue kobold in to try and teach them some more practical skills.
