Another piece of concept art for the same world Mara is from: Soldiers of the Minzu Federation located on the eastern side of the main continent. The pistols they wield are actually carriages for wands, used for projecting magical energy into spells.
Minzuans are a feline race and are known for their exceptional magical capabilities. Unlike the canine races of the west, Minzuans have largely remained unified, resulting in a more singular race with regional "breeds" rather than the three distinct races found on the West.
The Minzuan military relies mostly on magic instead of physical weapons. Wands, used for projection of spells, are encased in metal to protect the soft wood from damage, and if unarmed, Minzuan soldiers are trained to utilize close-range spells in their hand-to-hand combat. Unlike those in the West, Minzuan soldiers do not wear full boots in order to maintain the connection necessary to channel magical energy from the earth. Power crystals can be utilized in order to "store" magic in the event a soldier finds themself on non-earthen ground.
As is true of all races, even the magically inept Westerners, sexual dimorphism plays into the roles one plays, especially in the military. Just as men have a higher physical potential, woman have a higher magical potential. As such, women make up a significant portion (approximately 25-30%) of combatants in the Minzuan military. Their uniforms are identical and they carry the same ranks and titles as their male counterparts.
Minzu takes heavy inspiration from East Asian culture (both real and stereotypical), especially that of China. These uniforms are based off of uniforms worn by archers throughout various regions and ages of China, consisting of layered gambesons and helmets with visors and side flaps.
