This was inspired by the new convention starting up in Seattle called rainfurrest. The name is based on the Olympic National Rainforest, the only one in north america, which is on the Olympic Penninsula of Washington State. The mascot is a cougar, so I wanted to use this as a promotion for the convention.

mew~ nice lil' cougar! fluffed at the right places, and gotta love his "serious" smile. his noseridge line looks more like that of big cats, though, but ANYTHING is better than that awful fold/line between the inner eye corners that create a sharp bent in the noseridge that just doesn't belong there...
i like your shading, too, and the trees look strange but somehow fitting.
only the water appears to be a carpet... :)

Thanks for the constructive critism, I wholeheartedly appreciate it. :D
I'm slowly working up to doing believeable backgrounds. For too long I've just left them as voids. I hope to get better in time. :D
I tend to draw my things with no picture references whatsoever. I bet my drawings would look more believable if I looked at real life photos from time to time. I just need to build up a collection. Hehe.

thanks back. i try hard to give constructive critics, or at least my thoughts on a piece of art, for this is what i would want, too.
i am not that good at backgrounds either, and am also collecting pics for reference. although i go for analogue ref's because i find it hard to draw from screen, and prints are somewhat unhandy. :)
keep up your work!
