Newkirk as a cat, Lebeau as a mouse, and Hogan as a fox were easy; it took me a while to figure out what sort of animals Carter and Kinchloe would be. Someone suggested a lop-eared rabbit for the nervous Carter, with his flap-eared cap, and it worked. Kinch was a lot trickier, because the character was played by a black man in the series, so I had to tread a fine line between recognizing that fact, and not doing anything which might be construed as racist.
I picked a coyote, but I am really bad at drawing coyotes. Coyotes communicate by howling; in the show, Kinch was the radioman who communicated with their contacts in London via Morse code.
