The pose displayed is described as an indeed ancient ritual. In the words of esteemed scholar Dr. Sue Doh Intellectual M.D Ph.D #
“The pose is an ancient ritual called ‘rejecting’. It is used since the ancient times to describe a human brain function known as ‘emotion’, the specific type is known as ‘rejection’. This brain function is applied to express a lack of desire heretofore to perform a specific type of action that is theretofore of no human emotion ‘desire’. The closing of the eyes is symbolic of how it is heretofore perceived that doing so said undesired action will blind the eyes of imagination, as he can’t bring himself to imagine doing such an action in his mind, also known as ‘inconceivable’, so he paints a literal demonstration of the figurative phrase that he can’t ‘see’ himself doing such an inconceivable action. The arms are crossed to represent an ‘x’, which one uses to ‘cross’ out something. So he is using body language to ‘cross out’ the sheer sliver of conceivableness of possibility that he’d do what the person is suggesting. Very symbolic, indeed. Oh, the whole purpose is to extraneously analyse something that’s not as deep as you try to make it out to be, so you end up making stuff up that clearly isn’t there, so the joke is in the part where there is a serious tone to the completely made up non-existent parts, like the person is being mad serious about it.
