So as fate would have it, I created my 6th and final personal fursona today; Grekka Longtail the Badgerine (Badger/Wolverine hybrid).
Prolly not surprisingly, my ALL-TIME favorite novel series is Redwall by Brian Jaques. For a LONG time now, I've been brainstorming a series of fan fiction "books" I eventually plan to write and I designed Grekka as the villian/eventual anti-hero of said mini-series of stories. The more I worked on her, though, the more attatched I became to her. I began to feel a real kinship with the character. Badgers in the Redwall universe are creatures of renowned strength and martial prowess, beasts of destiny, the Badger Lords of Salamandastron are the stuff of legends ... defenders of weaker creatures against any and all vermin who dare rouse their infamous Bloodwrath; a terrible rage that makes them blind to any and all dangers, turning them into wrecking balls of raw fury, though leaving them completely drained and exhausted afterwards.
What I relate to most about the badgers in this book series is how they're always taking on the bullies and standing up for the lil' guys. One of my biggest weaknesses is that I'm VIOLENTLY protective of family and those I consider friends, and I can't abide seeing people getting treated rudely or unfairly and I have a habit of jumping in to rescue people, even if I don't know them. And yes, that gets me into a lot of trouble sometimes. XD What it came down to, is that I ended up wanting a fursona that encompassed that facet of myself and I remembered Grekka. So suffice to say, there are now 2 different versions of Grekka; the furry version and the Redwall version. =D
Feeling emboldened by my forray into the costume-making gig, I decided to try my hand at completing a SECOND costume--this time, an actual partial fursuit of one of MY characters. Why not my main fursona, Synhowl, you ask? Truth be told, I'm EXTREMELY picky with how I want her to turn out. So much so, that I REALLY know that with my amateur skills and lack of money for the "high-end" materials, I just WON'T do Syn proper justice. I'd rather save up the money to have her handled by a professional. But that certainly doesn't mean I can't practice with some of my other personal characters! >=3
So yeah, this is the basic foam head structure. An actual full-cover head this time instead of a 2-piece mask like Narr was. Tomorrow I hope to finally move onto the furring stage. =D
