Many story arcs in this comic are an outlet from what I or people I'm close to have experienced-hence why I wrote a story arc about swearing.
Growing up I was taught it was socially accepted (and encouraged) to approach a cussing stranger and politely ask them to refrain, because swearing is against your beliefs.
When I actually tried this, I became the target of cussing because I was acting entitled and trying to force my beliefs on others. I was quickly desensitized.
Fortunately, my characters take a more lighthearted approach to the topic.

I was brought up the same way--taught that cussing was wrong and that it's okay to politely ask someone to refrain. I too was given the wrong end of the cussing stick at times as well, and I admit that I have become somewhat desensitized to it.
However, it still bothers me, deep down, and it's not because "my beliefs are better than theirs" or "I'm better than they are because I choose not to use cuss words." I work in an office with a number of co-workers who use cuss words as part of their every-day language, and most of the time, I brush it off and just let it go. But there have been a couple of times where it has gotten so bad that I have requested that they tone it down.
Is it wrong of me to believe that common courtesy would allow me to make such a request?
(Rhetorical question. Not trying to start a debate here, just expressing some of my own thoughts.)

The general philosophy that I ascribe to is that profanity is a sign of a limited mind... The words themselves aren't the worst part (although they're bad enough) it's the fact that people who swear a lot tend to use the same words over and over again. The thought that always comes to my mind is "Don't you have a more imaginative way to express yourself?"
