A concept drawing for a fursuit/costume head idea.
The main idea behind this is that the head would be worn like a mask, with a fur layer that is fitted on the front of the mask, with the head behind the ears being a loose tube that goes down to the neck. The fur layer would be removable for separate washing, while the interior mask would be made of mostly plastic.
The 'skin' layer of his head is three layers, the first based around some type of bag, with holes cut for the eyes and muzzle. the second layer is a metal wireframe for the eyes, ears, and muzzle. the muzzle itself is an additional layer of material, with attachment points for the upper and lower jaw, as well as some thin foam padding to smooth out the corners. The third layer is is the fur.
The head is now based around a bag, that can then be worn over the mask layer, with the ears, nose, chin, and eyes clipping into place, the neck and back of the head is just loose cloth that hangs down to the shoulders and chest, the string from the bag can be then used to tighten the neck to give it a better shape, rather than the neck just being a tube the diameter of the head. This string is then hidden by tucking it into the fur.
