Title: Speed Sketch - Creature Heads 22-01-2019
or (I wished I could paint as good as Anthony Jones)
>Inspiration Sources:
Anthony Jones and his video about how he sketches in 5 minutes.
> about the technique
I Started by trying to cap my time limit, i actually didn't stick with the 5 minute thing all the way.
i mostly tried 7 minutes, some were 10 minutes, i think the last one, was something like 12 or 15 (the timer accidently stopped and i lost notion of time.).
I tried to use basic simple brushes,
mostly a standard hard round,
sometimes a soft round
tried to focus in only using two, one with full pressure size and opacity, to be able to detail but at the same time to be able to shade, and one with reduced size sensitivity, and opacity, for blocking and shading.
Still Anthony jones technique is a mystery to me. guess it's all about practice.
> about the species
amm.....a lot.
>♦STORY
Maybe not a story about the painting, but about how i came across that video on youtube
and decided to practice with it.
>♦GRIPE
I wish i could paint like Anthony Jones, but i do know i´m missing some fundamentals in anatomy, and lighting and shading. so guess is a thing of practice, practice, practice.
>♦CRITIQUE
The clarity of the silhouettes could be better.
Try to work more clean.
>Recommendations
Trying to place the light in front of the character helps to avoid the need to use
outlines to define the edges between character silhouette and the canvass.
also, practice with full body characters.
>♦Personal Judgment, Score
The Feel 6/10
Technique 6/10
Anatomy 5.5/10
Shading 7/10
Construction 4.4/10
Perspective 5/10
Creativity 3.8/6
Style 3.2/6
