It would be, for two reasons. Reason 1: If anything happens to the tether, you're screwed. Reason 2: With a hull breach like that, chances are that areas of the ship decompressed (That's why it is paramount that you close hatches when you go through them). Seeing depressed crew members could have a downing effect on you.
