depends. usually a sort of abandonist attitude - where they think that they don't have a proper place with anyone, and find it alarming if anyone DOES want them around for any reason what so ever.

*he nods slowly* Me... want family.. yes.."

"No you're not." shi says softly reaching over to pet the gnogre's cheek. "You're name is not Dirt, and it has never been Dirt. Your first name is StoneArm, because you are strong and brave. Your second name is...SweetBear-" shi says more softly, kissing the large brute's muzzle. "-because though you are as large and strong as a direbear, you are nice, tender and loving to those who know the real you. I have the right to say what your name is, because I am your new mother." shi says and wraps hir arms around the large guy's neck, murring softly, and hoping hir self-made designation as "mother" won't hinder some of the activities shi planned to do with him.

*doubted - he doesn't understand 'traditional' family structure well enough to think that that's wrong... and plus someone has to teach him about sex - he's just a babe in knowledge. he hugs back shyly, his little tail waggling excitedly as he hears his new, if a little silly, name*

The gravid gnoll murrs "Mmm, yes, rub gently like that." shi says as shi scritches behind his ears, seeing the dim, sweetly innocent look in his eyes, and giggling softly, pondering how best to explain the basic facts of nature to the fairly handsome (in hir eyes) brute. (Ohhh, so tempted ;) )
