PCA - Lamérique Dittany Stazna
Hailing from H.S. 261 in Pastoria, Sinnoh, Lamérique Dittany Stazna is a transfer student entering for the new semester. Raised by a single working mother in a small house next to the Great Marsh, he grew up somewhat solitarily. His mother, Cayenne, didn't spend much time with him due to her heavy work schedule and active social life, and her son was often left with various friends, and as soon as he was old enough, alone.
Despite often being left in the homes of other children, Lamérique was often rebuffed or ignored by his peers because of his mother's reputation for promiscuity and his own excitable erratic behavior. As such, he spent most of his time wandering away from whoever was supposed to be watching him for the day to play by himself, and his social skills were fairly poor. He soon became an absolute terror for neighbors to watch over, because of his constant running off into the Marsh, instinctive doodling on walls, and irrepresable energy. By the time he was twelve, no-one in his neighborhood wanted to babysit him anymore, and his visits to the Marsh became even more frequent.
Bored in his low-expectation public school, P.S. 24, Lamérique acted out there as well, mostly with graffiti and constant interruptions. Unable to sit still in his seat, he was eventually transferred to special education, then misdiagnosed with and treated for ADHD. Medicated into relative passiveness, his true talent began to shine through in aptitude tests and Lamérique was skipped a grade and allowed to take classes with the upper-grade kids...provided he took his medicine.
Throughout his elementary and most of his middle-school career Lamerique remained for the most part in a medicated state. He was something of an enigma to his older classmates. Too dopey to be interesting while medicated, and when off his pills, he was so excitable and rowdy that no-one wanted to be near him. It was only after he progressed to seventh grade did he start to calm down, and his misdiagnosis became evident. His mother profited heavily from the subsequent lawsuit, and Lamerique became more active in his school community, joining the Acrobatic Gymstacics team and the Gay-Straight Alliance. Despite these changes, Lame still wasn't terribly social, preferring to quietly observe his classmates, much to their discomfort.
Though he was quiet in the GSA, he was highly active (if not very vocal) in his other extracurricular, and what he learned there fueled a newfound love of gymnastics. Unfortunately, after his graduation, he found his new high school didn't have such a program, and he instead joined the student-organized Co-ordinator's Club where he learned to apply skills learned in gymnastics to several small contest battling tournaments held during his first two years. When the student group finally gained funding during the end of his Freshman year, a Contest Battling teacher was appointed. Seeing Lamérique's potential, he offered to write him a recommendation for his Alma Mater, the LeBreski Co-ordinator's School in Johto. Lamérique happily accepted.
Upon informing his mother, however, he was immediately shot down. Cayenne was unwilling to have her son go into what she considered a feminine and flamboyant sport. As something of a compromise, the teacher informed her of a different battling-specialized school his niece attended, located in Viridian, Kanto. With high hopes for her son, Cayenne sent the applications off immediately, and Lame was accepted, with a partial scholarship, to the Poke-Combat Academy of Higher Learning.
Fun Facts:
- To avoid confusion, it's worth mentioning that P.S. 24 was the Kindergarten through 8th grade school Lame attended from ages 5-13. He skipped a grade at age 7 (passing from 3rd to 5th). The second school he attended was H.S. 261 from ages 13-14. He transferred to the PCA at age 15 for his Junior year.
- Lamerique has been in construction longer than any of my other characters, taking almost a year from his original concept from his completion in September and release today.
- This is not his school attire.
