Methodology wise she could have been deputized and then the law enforcement who did so could have been impressed with her enough to just keep on deputizing her. She gets things done. Can't give her a badge so she made one (two) and put them on her leggings.
The sides on the symbol of her collar, jacket and belt are five which calls forth both Carmelita and also Renamon's motif. The taijitu consists of five parts, that yin-yang that Renamon has on her. And the backing of Carmelita's badge has the five sides. And then the thigh plates have eight sides, eight for the Eight Trigrams. Little bit of Renamon in there and not just in the notch of the thigh plates. At least that will be my headcanon.
The preliminary sketch that you mentioned in your video is what I would have voted for among the poses.
The hair wings on the back, the fur of the jacket mixed in with the fur on the chest, those shoulders which need freedom to move so off with that part of the outfit, and the boots hiding if she's plantigrade or digitigrade, all these and more make for a wicked design. She's fierce.
