Reactionless Drive, then... They got brushed by the fringe effect of the Field Effect Plateau... Smoothing out the field within the bubble causes the drop-off to be more severe... This doesn't matter normally, since a ship isn't near the edge of it's own field... But get brushed by someone else's, and OUCH...

Actually I just drew the cover up today- it's a watercolor painting at 11x17 in size. I'm very happy with the results and that will be posted shortly.
The entire comic is done and I'll be posting the other pages shortly as well. I will have the entire thing laid out and I hope to give it to Jarlidium Press this week so they can get it printed in time for Further Confusion.
But don't worry, this comic is most certainly going to continue. :)

Keep it up, and you might end up in High Orbit....
You know, one of the first serious and furry story that I ever read came outta Seattle, at the pencils and inks of Steve Gallacci and his Erma Felna, EDF story. Come to think of it, he lives in Seattle, too, doesn't he?
(grinning eeeevil grin) you know, wouldn't it be something if Steve could read this and be spurred to write new storys?

Enough duct tape, and I could build a new ship. Building a working FTL drive out of it might take a bit more work, though; duct tape's semiconducting properties at the superluminal threshold are a might unpredictable. Something about Heisenberg rolling in his grave a relativistic speeds, or some such.
Remember, it's never impossible, it just costs more.

No, the superconductive properties are actually quite stable. It's the mass flux switching necessary to maintain the reactionless field at the superluminal threshold that requires a semiconductor with predictable current degradation properties as the mass flux approaches maximum. Most duct tape vendors cut corners and don't screen batches to bin rolls with comparable mass flux breakdown levels. One usually has to do it personally at time of assembly, which means going through seven or eight rolls to find three 5cm strips that match.
