So, as some of you know,
Tygon decided to make painting his Stormcast Eternals army his New Year's resolution. A few days after the New Year, we got to talking, and he suggested doing a 'Tale of Four Gamers' (or Four Warlords or whatever you want to call it. They changed the name of it several times over the last 20+ years).
It sounded like fun. He was planning to do his Stormcast, and I didn't have an "official" GW Age of Sigmar army. After much thought, and a realization that while I like Tzaangor, I didn't feel like trying to PAINT them, I settled on the Seraphon as my army of choice.
Why Seraphon? Several reasons. I did have a Lizardmen army back in 5th edition, but the release of the Dogs of War mercenary army drew my attention away and it never went anywhere. I still have a few miniatures lying around. Tk'ya'pyk, my Skink Priest, is one of them (as is the skink sitting atop the tombstone), and I've long wanted to make an army around these older minis. I've always wanted a Stegadon, especially the new one, and getting one is definitely on my to-do list. Finally, because they're Aztec lizardfolk riding on DINOSAURS!!! I mean, seriously!
So, as per the agreement with
Tygon, I have made my first purchase/selection. Tk'ya'pyk the Skink Priest is my Leader, and I bought a box of Skink (which I have equipped with javelins and shields) to be my first Battleline unit. The skink sitting atop the tombstone was one of my favorite little lizard minis, and I used him to test out my new paint scheme.
I'm going to try getting these guys painted up by the end of the month. We shall see what happens. My next selections will be a second unit of Skinks (same equipment likely), and a secret option dredged from the pages of GW's history. I traded some minis I could never bring myself to paint (doubting my painting skills, not any other reason) with
Tygon for some minis I wanted. You will see them soon.

Oh, if you're wondering, I WAS going to spray-prime them gray. I started doing so, only to find that there is a temperature at which the spray paint will freeze IN THE NOZZLE OF THE CAN. Mind you, I've also been using that can for five years now, so it might just have been long-term paint build-up from low usage. Regardless, I had to switch to black primer. YAY.
Shaven up the walls? I REALLY hope you meant to type Skaven, because an army of naked mole rats would be kind of creepy...
You know, if you wanted to join in and make it a Tale of Three Gamers, I think we'd be all right with that. You WOULD eventually have to play a game with them though...
