"3000 Meters, wind 137 at 12, two degrees off spin south..." the small ghost chimed in his ear.
Taji held his rifle up, braced against a tree as he gazed through the large scope at his prey.
"Was it really necessary to chase these guys so far?"
"Quiet sparky..." the wolf murmured, focusing on the changing winds over the distance.
Beyond his perch lay a wide valley that swept through the geometrically carved cliffsides; foliage dressing it here and there that matched the fiery red of the wolf's hair. Nessus always had such a lovely atmosphere when a guardian could catch a break from being shot at by assortments of Vex, Cabal, and most obnoxiously, Fallen.
He watched patiently as silver shaped slowly worked their way along the canyon, the unmistakable profile of multi-armed fallen making them an easy target for tracking. Even if it took him a few days, he wanted to line up the perfect shot for the group here. The three captains had no clue what danger awaited them as they scanned the sides of the valley for threats; their minions towing large sacks along the ground filled with scavenged parts.
"1400 now, wind's calm" his ghost chimed in.
As Taji quit his breathing, his rifle seemed to start it's own. The wolf could feel a tingle over his body as weapon made a few adjustments internally before the trigger pull. The sudden flash and shockwave caught his ghost by surprise, but it paled to the expression of shock on the fallen captain in the middle of the group.
A white jet of superheated slug shattered the helmet of his companion in front; a pulse of ether confirming to all his immediate demise. The alien had barely enough time to swing his body around to face the next shot before his helmet exploded into a million pieces. The second shot arrived to the sound of the first meeting the company, and the last captain only had enough time to remark on how the white nails of a sniper shredded their shields instantly. With the last captain down, their dregs dispersed in a confused array. Without leadership they took cover wherever they could; but only the smallest rocks decorated the field Taji had chosen as their graveyard.
Without so much as a tap against the rifle, the wolf heard a sudden whooosh and click. He knew by the extra weight that his shots had returned directly to the magazine; the rifle a relic as alien as the thing he killed to forge it.
On the crest of another breath he held, three more shots rang out. A whoosh and a click. Three more shots. A whoosh and a click. And just two after that. He clicked his tongue at the odd number of targets; their wasting of his ammo just one more insult after stealing from him.
Headless corpses lay across the field as he approached with the weapon now slung across his back, glancing around between the sacks they carried until he found the one with parts of a vehicle poking out in a jagged array.
"And to answer your question, Sparky... Amanda would have my head on a pike if I lost another of her meticulously restored sparrows. So yes." He replied with a smirk.

I have a feeling it's going to be a habit when I go to MFF to purchase these from her... she's so-so good at this stuff it's unreal! xD
