Me and Romeo Dallaire
It's me again, but this time I'm standing next to the famous General Romeo Dallaire; for those who don't know (shame on you), he was the Canadian commander that led the United Nations' Mission in Rwanda, or UNAMIR as it was called. For more information, look up the Genocide of Rwanda.
I've had long term respect for General Dallaire; he disobeyed direct orders to withdraw from Rwanda in order to stay and help the people; back then, the Government was STILL full of racist, money-grubbing fuckheads. They forbid his troops to shoot, even to protect the Tutsi's who were being raped, chopped and gunned down RIGHT in front of his eyes, and he was forbidden to do anything. Even if he had disobeyed that order, the UN didn't have enough bullets to stop the Interhamwe; they didn't have enough rounds for TARGET PRACTICE.
Dallaire and I are similar; we both believe in full human equality, and we both know the government is made up of people who don't care about anyone else, especially not Africans. Now that he's IN politics, I bet one day, he'll run for Prime Minister, and he will make Canada the way it should be.

I did a Political Science paper on the Rwandan Genocide and I can say one of the biggest mistakes was the UN Peacekeeper policy of non-engagement. The Peacekeepers had the duty of protecting the Prime Minister while she tried to go on the airwaves to stop the violence, but the Peacekeepers surrendered resulting in the Prime Minister being assassinated and the Peacekeepers being tortured and executed. What's the saying go? "Evil can only prevail when good people do nothing." It great you managed to meet who choses the right thing in the face of danger.
