Jedi Master Ch'orcai
Jedi Master CH'orcai was a male Ishi Tib jedi during the final years of the Old Republic. Like most Jedi of his era; he spent most of his childhood at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, though after being apprenticed to his , the pair would also make regular journeys to the Jedi library on Ossus. The belief of his master was that the past of the Jedi, both successes and failings should not be forgotten, no matter how seemingly irrelevant to the specifics of the present. Ch'orcai would go on to style himself after the Jedi Guardians of old, studying advanced lightsaber techniques in a time when many viewed the Jedi as mediators and diplomats more than warriors.
His focus of study would go on to prove invaluable; when, like many Jedi knights of his era he was inducted into the command structure of the Grand Army of the Republic at the outbreak of the Clone Wars. Like several other relatively young Jedi Knights; he was elevated to the rank of master somewhat earlier than he would have been due to the pressure on the Jedi Order to keep the ranks of Jedi commanders filled. This is where Ch'orcai's study of past conflicts proved invaluable: as he found himself with a vast pool of knowledge in the ways of warfare that many of his fellow Jedi lacked.
Like Nautolan Jedi master Kit Fisto; Ch'orcai's species is naturally amphibious, an advantage which he capitalized on the moment he was given the freedom to choose his assignments and the specialization of his Clone unit. The unit under his command would go on to become known as the Blackfins; one of the relatively few units of the GAR to specialize in aquatic and amphibious warfare. They became particularly adept in the field of disrupting critical supply lines and cargo operations of the CIS war machine, an choice of target that would seem at first relatively unimportant compared to the CIS army proper; until one considers that the confederate army and navy are largely staffed by droids, a resource which can be replaced far faster than even the rapidly grown clones of the grand army of the republic.
