This troubles me. π€
I received this note this morning. And it really troubled me.
I'm not saying this guy is wrong because, honestly, i've said a lot of dumb π© in the past which... yeah.
In some cases i got taken out of context or we did not understand each other due to language differences.
In other cases i was a true π© of a man because we either all have out moments or our brain farts at the wrong moment.
I would just like to say that i try to support artists as much as i can and yeah, the "cheapest" stuff in my gallery comes from Tegerio. And that's still around 50$ per piece. The most i've ever paid was the one piece from JSA which went between 450 and 500 given a bonus i've sent him for the good job.
On average the stuff in my gallery was paid around 50$ to 80$ for the lineart/greyscale stuff and around 120$ to 170$ for the color stuff. With varying mileage depending on the complexity and quality of the work.
In fact anybody can check with the people i commissioned and aside from the adoptions everybody also got a bonus for their work above the price they asked me.
So yeah.
To whomever i said an idiocy like the stuff in the screenshot? I'm sorry about it.

Is he saying $150 is too expensive or too cheap!?
Anyway, what people pay for in the art community is rather... crazy at times. Artists charge over $30 for something that's literally just a sketch.
And then there are those that charge upwards of $25 for adoptables that are simply recolours of the same base.
I offer full body art for $30 and I find that a perfectly reasonable price based on the amount of hours I spend on making a character. This has also made me affordable for people who would never get the chance to buy a commission.

it seems to say that i said 150 is too cheap... honestly it depends on the level of art, your art, for what i've seen could easily receive a price boost.
something like these should *not* go anywhere *under* 70$ https://www.furaffinity.net/view/28870969/ https://www.furaffinity.net/view/29548601/ (meaning they should be paid more)
and even something rough and simple like these could easily go for 35-40$ https://www.furaffinity.net/view/28972219/ https://www.furaffinity.net/view/28889109/
in the end it's all about how much you want to be paid for the hour and the level of detail you offer.
of course if nobody want to pay you you may lower the prices... buuuut. yeah. it's a slippery slope. the customers always want more for less.

Right way to insist on commission price: "Sorry but $150 is how much it costs for me to do this."
Wrong way to insist on commission price: Cop an attitude and harangue the customer like this guy did.
The nerve!! He doesn't even know what "surreal" means and then in the next sentence tries to tell you about high-priced gallery art.

He's nobody i tried to commission.
I think he's a fan that either took a comment of mine out of context, or i actually wrote something that stupid.
I can't honestly discount it, because sometimes it happens that it makes sense in my head and i write it, but the other person might not know.
Or... well i've seen it happen that some co-workers of mine take my phone and comment on stuff i am watching at the moment because they think it's funny. I personally don't and i usually delete those comments immediately, but it's quite rare, and by now i've started to put fingerprint id on every app on my phone. I can't fingerprint-id Chrome though because that breaks how Android handles some stuff. But then again i just checked and i'm not logged on FA on my phone so they should not be able to comment in my name. So that should not happen. and i took the habit of clicking on the phone's on-off button so they would also need my fingerprint to even turn on the screen. and even there i have a 60 seconds countdown on my screen going off.
Which basically means i can discount office pranks as highly improbable. It's most probably just a vindictive "fanboi" that either misinterpreted a comment of mine or i actually said something stupid following a thought i had but had not voiced out loud.
Or ... you know... like right now i ranted for several paragraphs and people easily misread stuff.
