Drew a yeen today. He works a boring office job during the day, but lives playing piano in the symphony at night.

Mix of charcoal/pastel/color pencil and just a bit of touch ups in photoshop after.

I can't remember if I asked before, but with all these characters, I'm actually kinda curious how you dress IRL.

I wish I could dress like some of these guys. I actually wear pretty casual stuff in real life. I don't even own a single scarf haha. Though winter clothes don't really work in a place that's warm most of the time I suppose.

I'd love to up my own fashion game at some point though.

You seriously need to do more traditional portraits like this, this came out amazingly well! I love the detail in it and how alive the expression looks like. How much would a commission like this be, if you opened up for these?

Ahh thanks! Yeah, I think I need to do more too. I love charcoal and working in it just seems to click for me for whatever reason. As far as commissions, I'm not sure how much I would charge for one of these. I'd have to think about it a bit.

I only worked with charcoal once and it was a very pleasant medium to work with. I still have the sticks laying in my desk somewhere, i should look for them and try again, this artwork is very inspiring.

Yeah, its nice! It's a pretty freeing medium I think. I just love the way it blends and how forgiving it is in general.

Thanks! I like that part too. Doing detail stuff like that is usually a nice reward for sticking through all the early steps of the drawing.

I'm going to do more! To be honest I draw better in charcoal than digital anyways. I got started with this stuff years before I got a tablet and it still feels a bit more comfortable to me.
