A child born under an unlucky star is abandoned in a deep, dark forest. The wailing infant is discovered by a strange fox who adopts him as a brother. The boy grows up half in and half out of the spirit realm; the forest monks provide offerings to both he and his vulpine brother. As time progresses, the two brothers slowly merge into one entity... until one day, there is no fox and no child, but a fox-faced man who can travel freely between the realms.
