so basically i always picture applejack as a buff babe and wanted to draw her as such, but then realized why not redesign ALL of the mane six??
tbh while i do picture applejack and rainbow dash looking like how i have here; the only other pony who i mentally see as close to this whenever reading or thinking about the group is pinkie pie.
i loved rarity's gen 4 colors, but felt that if i was going to redesign her i should go with something more visually different. so i went with rose golds and "nude" shades like you'd find in a makeup palette mostly because i love those shades?? that's it, nothing deeper lmao
rainbow and twilight are pretty similar to their gen 4 counterparts because i think the colors are really solid- i stuck closest to twilights because the only other designs i could think of for her were incredibly similar to others i found when looking up redesigns of the group. i really enjoy darker pallets for her (deep blues and whites, more greys, etc), but i wanted to avoid making it look too similar to those i had found.
fluttershy is a flutter pony which i'm not completely sure how ethical that is for me to do lmao but the other option i had in mind for her at the time was a breezy and i really just wanted her to be incredibly lanky and lithe, gangly.
the heights are in order (tallest to shortest): fluttershy and rarity (around the same, but fluttershy keeps her head down so she seems smaller), applejack, twilight, rainbow dash, and pinkie pie
i haven't redesigned their cutiemarks, but i may go back and do that if i ever draw them again lmao
if i ever change anything here it'd probably be rarity. i'm the least satisfied with her design honestly, though i love the rose gold mane i'd probably adjust her palette anyway.
