The warrior Silas was one of seven elite nightmare killers during the days of the Nightmare War. Each of these champions wielded one of the Aurelium Blades - seven supernaturally enhanced weapons bound to their wielder by blood, said to have been a gift from the Spirits themselves. With their power activated, the true potential of these blades would be unleashed, becoming incredibly deadly to those they were intended to slay: Nightmares.
When the Seven were hunted down by traitorous dreamkeepers, their weapons were destroyed to prevent them from ever being used against the nightmares again. It is said that Silas, however, survived the hunt and, at the behest of a wise spirit, hid his sword where it would be safe from those wishing to destroy it. The weapon would remain hidden at this secret location until the day when it would find a new owner - a direct descendant of Silas himself.
