Meet Djall, father to both Vyrmithrax and Cyan, the same one that made the decision to adandon Cyan when she hatched for being "broken". He took Vyrmithrax to live with him and her mother. After killing the mother to his children, he begged his daughter Vyrmithrax to lock him away in a hidden chamber. Its quite possible he is still alive in there, he does not require meat for food as he can live off of the earth itself.
He was much bigger than what his daughters have turned out to be, its quite possible he has grown even bigger than shown here since being locked away.
His breath ability is a black mist that causes petrification, this ability confirmed by the stone figures of those outside his chamber who had previously stumbled across it and attempted to set him free.
