This is somewhat of a work-in-progress. The song does play through and has an "ending," but the bass-guitar ends about halfway through and the guitar ends up being only centre-channel for a minute or two. This is a continuation of Iris, and you can hear the guitar riff present at the end of Iris come in at around 3:09. I hope to finish it with some more creative ending-riffs and a real bassline in the future. Until then, enjoy my raw thoughts-on-track. :P
Once again, all real instruments, all played by yours-truly.

Hahaha yeah, that'd be absolutely terrible and I'd completely resent a comment like that. *cough*
But actually, the recording isn't "raw." Raw would mean that I recorded the sounds and didn't add any effects/equalizer/dynamics to pretty-up the tracks, but I did work the eq bands and added compander effects on the drums. =P

Diggin this as well? Old-school Tool a big influence of yours I'm taking it? I even hear a bit of 'Meantime' era Helmet here as well....just in the overall vibe. This is what modern metal needs more of....less focus on the weedly-weedly, and more focus on powerful, moving riffs that really drive the song.
Those real mic'd up drums as well? If so....bonus points for being both well recorded, and well executed. Thats something I wish I had the skill to do (nevermind the proper, sound treated room, a good kit, and a badass set of well placed mic's). My fat ass almost blacked out the last time I tried to play something as relatively simpler on drums as iron Maiden's The Prisoner....no way in hell i could handle the double bass brutality my own music requires.

Actually, I think I wrote this song before I even got into Tool. I definitely wrote this in high-school and my buddy got me addicted to Tool in college, so yeah.
I used to (and still do) listen to a lot of Korn. This song was particularly inspired by Dream Theater, I think, when I used to listen to their Scenes from a Memory album over and over again (still love that band and that album.) Now I'm all into Meshuggah, Mnemic and Sybreed, and I haven't recorded anything in years so we'll see what my next project sounds like. *grin*
And yes, that is me on my acoustic kit. You might have noticed my drum work is a lot more explorative than my guitar, that's because I took formal training in percussion and guitar was sort of something I picked up on my own, so I'm a little timid and slow with guitar. I mic with whatever crap mikes I found laying around and I bought a few cheapies a while back. My overhead boom is a cymbal stand and some broomsticks cut up and duct-taped together. XD I do what I can with what I've got and tweak it with eq and dynamics.
Thanks for the feedback, bud!
