So here's a fun story I haven't mentioned here yet: Vashti is named after a character from the Bible, namely a Persian queen purported to be the wife of King Xerxes I. About a month after I posted her first picture, I decided to pull up her namesake on the ol' Wikipedia and see if it had anything interesting to say, and boy howdy did it ever:

[Some rabbis] attribute her unwillingness to appear before the king and his drinking partners not to modesty, but rather to an affliction with a disfiguring illness. One account relates that she suffered from leprosy, while another states that the angel Gabriel came and "fixed a tail on her." The latter possibility is often interpreted as "a euphemism for a miraculous transformation to male anatomy."

...You're all aware what's unique about spotted hyenas, right?

Anyway, I can only imagine the presence of traditionally matriarchal species in a world of furries would have an...interesting effect on the gender politics of their society. But if movements like The Red Pill did exist, Vashti would have none of their bullshit. But she might take them up on the offer to see how deep the rabbit hole goes. Theirs, that is.
