There are many things in life that are a perfect logical fit. And I suppose one can say that, Halloween + Fursuits + Zoo is just one of these things that fits very well.
Representing the TiggyWorkz lineup (well, I have to do a shameless plug somewhere), we have (from left to right):
Colin as his Badger
Kamadan the Snow Leopard
Leela the Snow Leopardess
Roxy the Little Vixen
This year, I've managed to get into contact with the event organizer at Auckland Zoo and somehow convinced them to let us in for free ;) Well, I think we already showed them last year how much the crowds and kids loved us so, why pay to get in when we can volunteer our time and be on the official "Zoo Crew"?
Having access to the staff area (or the "Green room for actors" as they call it) makes suiting that much easier compared to last year where we have to change out in the carpark. And getting water/drinks and as much candy as we want (it is Halloween afterall) is also a nice perk.
Also many thanks to our minders/film crew for the day.

This got
smirnoff and I talking about doing something similar for London Zoo and similar parks. We reckoned if we approached the zoo with a short statement from Auckland zoo and/or some other proof (like photos or videos) of suiters interacting with crowds, we'd hopefully get the go ahead.
What do you think?

It really depends on the Zoo and what their policies are like. For one where I live (New Zealand) things are generally much more flexible in terms of rules and "do's and don't's" and we tend to use this thing called "common sense" a lot more. So to them (Auckland Zoo), we are a perfect fit to helping them with a big event.
I would suggest talk to them first and open up a good dialogue and see if they're open to the idea of having fursuiters around as volunteers. I can't imagine that they'll shoot the idea down right away. The only reason I can think of that they wouldn't want... fursuits or "other characters" around is if they already have an agreement (sponsorship etc..) with another company and the fursuits detracts or distracts people away from those "official" characters and/or mascots.
If you'd like to use the photos we took let me know, we're more than happy to help you guys out. We also have video footage too (well, this year's one is still being processed as we filled 2 60 minute tapes) that you can show to your local Zoo if you want.
Good luck!
