Nicole’s initial reaction towards Gumball’s change was a mixture of worry and confusion. Not only in seeing that her son was now her daughter, but also in finding out that every trace of ‘Gumball’ in photographs and other sources had changed to ‘Bubblegum. She was left with a desire and need to try and fix it, but had no idea how to. It left her honestly feeling helpless and that she was partially to blame, as she hadn’t put enough effort in preventing Richard from his job in time.
However, at the same time, Nicole felt the best course of action was to be there for her son-turned-daughter in her time of need. To help her cope with the drastic change and provide an ear that ‘Bubblegum’ could use when in need. All of her regrets and worries were less important when it came to helping her own child and making sure she was okay. She wanted to be as supportive as she could be.
Nicole also couldn’t help to admit that she really loved Bubblegum’s hair, and rather enjoyed being able to brush it and style it.
