Syssim brought Barry back to the summit of the central tower, and started typing on a sort of panel.
A disk in the center of the room lighted up and started emitting a sort of light, that eventually "materialized" in a sort of orb of light.
Welcome.
The voice seemed to come from speakers unseen.
"So, uh, you're the AI Syssim told me about?" asked awkwardly Barry.
Indeed. I am model Derleth-39, like all other AIs in the arkships.
Barry raised an eyebrow.
Yes, I noticed the strange coincidence too.
"Moving on. So, now that the ship's out of the water, what's the plan?"
We intended to try and convince the soldiers around the Y'ha-nthlei to allow us to make our case to the UN. It is the biggest international power on this world, correct?
"Not exactly a power, but there are worst places to start," replied Barry.
Good. Then we will do so.
"Er..." began Barry.
Is there a problem?
"First, how do you intend to go exactly? You're an AI, aren't you by definition stuck here?"
"There are portable projectors he can transmit the hologram and work to," replied Syssim. "I'll bring one."
"Okay. Second, shouldn't you... I mean... Get more presentable?"
What do you mean?
"Well, I doubt some floaty, otherworldy ball of light will make the UN feel at ease. Something looking more... "alive" would make a better impression. Similarly, a real name instead of just "the AI" would help. Well, I think."
...I see. I need to analyze this situation.
The hologram shut off.
An awkward silence extended between the werewolf and the deep one, as they waited for a few minutes.
Finally, the generator reactivated and showed a hologram that wasn't a ball of light.
It now showed a huge, overmuscled, Hulk-size deep one.
"That's much better, but it was necessary to be that big?"
Well, Syssim seemed to enjoy so much being a titan, I wanted to see about it.
The holographic image flexed a humongous biceps and smirked.
And I have to admit, it feels really good!
Syssim smirked knowingly.
"...You're a hologram image, how can you feel that?" muttered Barry.
"Much more advanced technology, remember?" snarked the flesh-and-blood deep one.
"Point taken. And for the name?"
Well, I am now a giant - not to Syssim's levels, obviously, but still - Deep One, and there is a giant Deep One with a name in Lovecraft's works, so...
"Let me guess: Dagon?"
Yes.
"Really?!" groaned angrily Syssim.
I find them funny.
"Well, seeing that you have a sense of humor might help..." sighed Barry.
