Okay. Hear me out on this one: it's almost 3 AM, I got linked to this by a friend and I literally have only seen your art right now. I immediately wanted the source so I can follow you because, DAMN. I don't know if you have a twitter but I'll try to find it as I'm much more active there. I should go to bed and I'm tired but I refuse to right now. That's my disclaimer for if any of this sounds incoherent or off or I use a wrong term here and there. I'm also going to blame my native language not being English right off the bat.
This is incredible looking.
The proportions are so on point I don't know if I can see any other Lucario again without comparing it to this one. Seriously. On. Point. Right on the nose.
I LOVE the color palette for this. I think some would have gone for green or a greenish tint but cyan is a much better choice. The blueish background works very well with this. It's not distracting. It doesn't make your character fade in but it also doesn't pop itself out and into the eyes of the viewer. Great choice.
I can spend a long time going on and on about the effect you used to show he's being downloaded. I love the choice of essentially slices peeling off, but you then went on to make it more than that, and shred the scarf. That, again, is a great choice. It adds something. It makes it look like those slice are then further divided up and shredded into raw information. I think that's what you meant for it to look and feel like, and logically speaking it would do that.
God I love how you did the hands and feet. Hands are damned hard, and the feet/paws are big enough to make him look cute but not to the point of it being over the top, and not to small either. It's a really good balance of proportion.
The fur looks absolutely wonderful. So very fluffy. So thick and cozy where it realistically (okay, yes, he's a pokémon) would be prone to grow in thicker. It also makes him look so very cute. <3 Like ahhhh look at that tail, and the legs, and the ears. I can look at this for an hour and still find things to appreciate. You have a wonderful style. I love the work on the eyes. The cyan tint, the glow as it were, from him being downloaded is a very nice detail, like if it weren't there people would notice something is a bit off. Because...
Your highlights are god damn amazing. They add so much to the overall piece. Yes, it's mostly him surrounded by light as the process is happening, but you really made sure it wasn't just him being POOF ALL LIT UP DONE, you added detail and light and shade in places where it would be and that all adds up so much when you look at the payoff that is this beautiful artwork.
And I didn't mention your choice there with the outline: the reddish hue on the outline of the character? It works REALLY well! Great decision. You had this theme in your head and you executed it wonderfully.
There's something about his expression that's also very cute. It's a blank expression, I mean he's being downloaded so I wouldn't expect him to give a goofy smile and I sure don't want him to look horrified! But it's just... It's again, really well done.
All in all when you put all of your effort together it's a very well proportioned beautifully drawn and colored, absolutely and undeniably well crafted work that made me praise you to the stars for 20-25 minutes all while I had a hard time tearing my eyes away from it. It draws me right in there.
You really should be proud of yourself. This is gorgeous. I'm thankful to have seen and favorited it. If I had to sum it up in one word it would be "resplendent".
