Yin-Lei often attacks the Bajjei region where the Yunmue species and their guardian dragon Ryuu reside, terrorising villages and catching whoever/whatever he wants as an act of spite and revenge against his nemesis Ryuu. Besides that, Yin is generally just unhinged and corrupted from centuries of bitterness and overexposure to dark magic so it's also a sadistic thrill sport for him, which this poor male Yunmue has discovered for himself (Yin-Lei loves to toy with prey before eating them like using his electric to zap them like here) - Ryuu will be furious when he learns another of his villagers is gone...
Stormclouds on the horizon usually mean this wicked thunder dragon is about to strike.
Traditional marker coloured piece that I'm very happy with!
Art, Yin-Lei and Yunmue species are mine.

You'd think so, but nope! Ryuu has an entire hoard of every colour lipstick imaginable (there's also his magic too for instant colour change but...maybe best avoided for now if the lipstick spell animation is anything to go by...). Plus he IS blessed with dat beautiful natural black shiny lip <3
I wish I were a betting man; I knew it'd be this drawing to be uploaded next. And, yeah, wow, this one has been a long time coming but that time was so worth it. Up until now, I don't think we as the audience have quite seen how terrifying Yin-Lei is, especially surrounding his attitude towards Ryuu and the Yunmue (ooh, another noodle to smooch...maybe not). I like giving a holistic view of a drawing before focusing on the nitty gritty but what stood out for me immediately is how you've defined each scale. Outlining scales as you have, altering between light and dark borders, sets off the light properties of Yin Lei's scales absolutely brilliantly. It makes him look all the more outstanding, all the more terrifying.
As ever, your colours are absolutely on point. You know exactly how light plays on a subject and thus how to extract all the colour you can. Using purple to shade parts of Yin Lei is inspired. It seems to mirror the sky in the far background, a menacing, ominous colour which suggests a crazed, angry darkness... No prizes for guessing who that reminds me of.
Your decision to go with white teeth rather than yellowed was wise, I think. Knowing that this hate-filled rivalry exists between Yin Lei and Ryuu exists, it seems only fitting that Yin Lei would do anything to outdo Ryuu. Whether intentional or not, I'd probably extend that to Yin Lei's fur; doesn't get much more extravagant than gold. How it complements his red scales gives him this air of royalty, that he should be the all-powerful and idolised being rather than Ryuu. But then, with that brilliant capturing of a maniacal, crazed expression from an artist who nails expressions with every drawing, it adds more to that fear factor.
On that same subject, that terror is realised even further with the Yunmue victim. Eyes wide, looking off as if trying to spot someone, anyone,to rescue him... I can only feel afraid for him. Once again, you've worked magic with enticing an emotional response. Naturally that is because you give your subjects such character, such emotion themselves. This drawing, though, is the first I've seen from you (in at least a while) where I feel scared, both of Yin Lei and for the fate of that Yunmue.
I must credit you for fleshing out the background as you have. This wouldn't be a complete Yin-Lei drawing without storm clouds and moody skies. Were I to change one thing, the mountains could be a little more subdued as light is being blocked by those clouds. However, with how rich your colours are, it doesn't look too out of place.
If you had told me you had an extended break from drawing because of your wrist, I wouldn't have believed you. Your finesse is as astonishing as it has ever been, if not more so. I'm seeing you learn more and more, even now, when I'm sat here unable to comprehend just how you keep blowing us all away time and time again. There is such craftsmanship here, and an incredible ability to captivate your audience with the expression and atmosphere in your work. This is so striking, this piece. You should be so proud of it. What a stunning result for you.
