For my stories, yes, yes it is!

Upon rewatching the episode with this guy and his friends recently, I found myself sympathizing him immensely. Yes, he was kind of an unpleasant little creep, but the people who picked on him were way worse and I found the way it ended with punishing him without actually solving the underlying problem that the system which forgives if not actively encourages and rewards bullies is what created him and made him into the angry and vengeful monster he became. It felt like a story written by someone who'd never been bullied.

The Batman was honestly written by a "law and order" type writer clearly; it rarely depicts criminals in the sympathetic manner you'd expect from say, the Animated Series.
