The joy of digging through FA comes from finding incredible artists whose works captivate and amaze in skill, style, and subject. Even greater still is finding those whose works succeed on every level and push forward onto a higher plane where true art lies. Often these artists have been around awhile, are very popular, and typically very successful. Other times the artist are hidden, young or new, or somehow just not very well known. One such artist is Ishrafnhildr. Her dark fantasy style is very much reminiscent of Frazetta and the world of metal albums, so obviously I was enticed. I noticed a YCH for a character riding a horse. I thought 'Hey I could get a nice Frazetta inspired work. A chance to get something from story for her.' Now, here is where the difference between a good artist and great artist lies. A good artist will take your character, draw it, and call it a day. A great artist will take what they are given and find inspiration that lets them turn it into so much more. Originally, this was a simple piece where she rides a horse through a field during the day with some butterflies. However, with the character and the change of horse color to white. The piece was turned into so much more.

Everything about this piece is magnificent. It is composed and balanced so well. The contrasting themes and colors. Light and dark. Blue and white. Beauty and power. Life and death. She looks as if she is out on some serious quest just as much as she is taking an evening stroll. She easily commands fear and respect while still enrapturing you in awe at her beauty and majesty. Her horse graceful yet intimidating especially with that white. She embodies both a fearsome warrior and a strong and fair ruler that looks out for her people.

Will you follow her? Will you stand with her in battle? Fight for her and follow her to hell and back? Will you be worthy enough to touch that awesome belly fluff? Will you bend the knee?
