Scott Ruggels' Summary of Art 2018
This is the first time I have done one of these, because Wielder made me do it. it's all her fault!! 2018 was a rather tumultuous year for me, starting with a deepening depression, and health problems, Culminating in a stroke and then a coma, in June (no e the June Square). July and August and part of September were spent in hospital, and a Convalescent Facility, as I could no longer walk well and I had speech problems initially. I also could not draw, at first which was kinda scary. However, I sketched nearly every day to return to being able to draw what I imagined or had in front of me, and to rebuild my hand strength as my muscles melted away during the 22 days I was in that coma.(see the July , and August squares to see the poor state of ability, and my improvement) I was released in the middle of September, bursting with creative energy, and resolving to make a lot of changes in my life. So far I have lost 55 lbs. and my endurance is better than before the stroke, and Looking over the art from before it, I was stagnant, and sloppy. I needed to push myself further, so I wanted to develop a more "painterly" approach to coloring, and kind of kiss that old animation style goodbye, at least for now, as 2D is dead, and what animating I do is in 3D. Plus I wanted to see if I could master that Table Top RPG style of painterly illustration and see if I could apply it to my Lupines. For the upcoming year, I will be doing more painterly portraits of The Lupine Characters for an RPG book project I am working on, plus I may attempt to do so me comics again, but don't hold your breath. I feel I have been given a second chance, and I don't want to waste it. So I will forge ahead and see what I can do. I feel I have to stop being afraid of color and take the time to master it.

Man, the fact you pulled through makes me so happy. I'm genuinely glad you're here on this planet, in the time that I'm in. I'm fucking grateful for it.
And the fact you have gotten your art back is nothing short of inspirational. I love this new painterly style you're finding and enjoying, and I'm sooooooo excited to see what you do with it in 2019! I've always loved your lupines and how they interact with the world around them. I hope we get to see more of that! I'D BUY THAT FUCKIN' BOOK, MAN.

Wow -- comparing January to September -- worlds of difference. Marshall McLuhan taught us that "The medium is the message," but he couldn't have foreseen digital art, could he? After all, he (and Vannevar Bush) predicted the Interwebz.
Anyway, you've been a professional artist for a long time, but to make so much progress in a year is seriously impressive. Good on ya, and best for the coming years!
