In the Darkrai Trial arc, we entered a cave that we were told would show us things that we would not find pleasant, but needed to overcome to prove that we could be trusted by a kingdom of pokemon who had lost faith in humanity for a variety of reasons. The leader of these pokemon, a scolipede named Gilgamesh, allowed us to bring one single pokemon with us- the one we were most closely bonded to.
