Hay peeps.
Since I finally have a brake from school, and don't have any assignments to worry about, I finally decided to get to working on my yard. So I went to Home Depot and rented a rototiller to fix the uneven spots and bajillion holes from gophers and the previous resident's dog. (seriously, you could hardly walk across my yard without twisting an ankle!).
It took a lot of work, but I managed to go the entire yard! I mean, it's not perfectly level, but I can at least walk around my yard without breaking my ankle. It's a good thing I got the machine for a full 24 hours, cuz there was a sizable patch of soil that was tough as hell, (probably a mixture of clay), and of course the machine broke twice on me. The first time before I even got to use it, one of the bolts was missing, so the blades fell off as soon as I turned it on, and I had to take it back to the store to be repaired. The second dime, the weld on one of the blade wheels broke, disabling it, but I was 3/4 done, so I just finished the yard with three of the blade wheels.
Fortunately, because the machine was braking, they gave me an extra 2 hours with it.
Now, over the next week, after work, I gotta try to get out there with a dirt rake, and do a little more cleaning up, while looking for any persistent weeds that still need removing, so that next weekend, I can rent a poly roller to press the soil flat, and perhaps finally trow down some grass seed, so I can finally grow a proper lawn.
I definitely have a new appreciation for a well maintained lawn, and understand the frustration of landlords that have tenants that let their dogs dig holes in their yards...
Oh yeah, and I suppose I also should decide where I want to plant my four fruit trees and do that, since I now have the materials for that. That part should be easy though cuz I have an auger that can dig the holes for me. ^^
Sorry about not getting any art done this weekend. I was gonna try to draw in the nights after it got too dark to work in the yard, but after using that tiller for hours, and then a dirt rake, my hands are just killing me!
At least next weekend, the poly roller and seed spreading shouldn't kill my hands...

Well, just for a back yard, you know, tossing the ball for the dog, social gatherings, relaxing... that sort of thing.
I might eventually get a garage and a chicken coup put in, but that would be years down the road. I'll of course have my fruit trees though. I have four fruit trees so far: lemon, mandarin orange, kumquat, and pomegranate. I may also get myself an apple and plum tree.
