I've been trying to post my pictures in the order they were taken (namely, convention photos first), but I'm down to the part where I have to sort through and edit and desc all the photos from this year that I haven't even looked at yet. So, ummm, let's just pretend I din post this until after the 2009 convention pictures that I'll get around to posting eventually, m'kay?
On to the important stuff: the local Idafurs got together for a pre-Halloween party, and (most) the ones that owned fursuits went to the costume competition at the zoo (which happened to be the same day). So here is the zoo contingent (three fursuits and a handler): Zeeby on the left, Noodles in the front, and Odd Zombie in the back.
Guess which one is me? Awww...you guessed. *pouty face* You're right, though; I is Noodles, the flaky fennec in the front! Noodles was built by the awesome and incredibly talented kitebird, and I was astounded (still am!) to find that my wistful bid on him in the art auction had actually won!
This escapade at the zoo was Noodles' (or is that Noodles's?) first REAL time out in public. Sure he'd been to a couple local furmeets previously, and he even made a brief appearance at RF right after I won him, but none of that could hope to prepare me for the complete inundation by screaming children (and adults o.0) wanting to get their picture taken. We completely missed the costume contest because it took us two hours to wade through the masses of adoring fans to get to where the judging was to be held (maybe a hundred yards from the main entrance), and by then the zoo was closing.
There was another unexpected complication: There were various zoo employees and volunteers dressed in (rented) mascot costumes wandering around giving out candy. We had soooo many kids come up to us and ask us for candy thinking we were zoo employees. It was incredibly cute, but kind of sad because we had no candy to give. It got to where whenever a kid came up I'd upend over my head a(n empty) treat bag that I'd acquired from somewhere (you can see it on the ground by my right paw) and look into it forlornly. Luckily most didn't mind, they just wanted hugs and/or pictures. One little girl (maybe 6 years old?) offered to go trick-or-treating with me to help me get some candy. It was so adorable!
