"If you're a younger fan in an older fandom like I am, you may be familiar with this scenario: The older fan who wants to treat it as a competition, spouting random facts at you and bragging about how much bigger a fan they are through various means. Maybe they actually went to a concert for a band that broke up before you were even born, or they met a mangaka PERSONALLY before he passed away. Not to forget the older otaku who love to remind you how in THEIR day they had to make due with a tenth generation copy of their favorite show on a VHS and read a translation from a xerox'd piece of paper. You are somehow inferior because you happened to come into the fandom in a time later than they have.

Unfortunately for them, fandom is not a competition. There are no prizes. When you treat it like one, you end up looking like you're trying to compensate for something. Not to mention alienating who you're talking to and sucking the fun out of what should be an enjoyable, easygoing conversation. Sharing a love of something should be a bonding experience, not a chance to stroke your ego."

I...I cannot begin to tell you how much I love this comic. I LOVE this comic. Granted it makes me realize that I'm kind of a prick to some people cause I act like that, I've the intelligence to change and that is EXACTLY what I hope it does for other people!
