as a former professional chef I know what that last panel is like.
I have three teenagers in the house. I spent HOURS preparing thanksgiving dinner one year, and helf of it they refused to touch and the other half they ate without tasting.
the next year I bought subway and they couldn't tell the difference...

As a foodie myself, it broke my heart to make a fabulous holiday meal fr my relatives, only to listen to "I dowanna eat THAT!" and "I'm not hungry!" And forget using the good tableware or trying to explain "this is family tradition." Give the kids mac and cheese and chicken nuggets and just go brood over your precious Norman Rockwell memories.
On a less bitter note--I really love the way that last panel turned out. Hyenas will eat anything with four legs, including the table.
