OC Profile - Mrs. in the Hat (Dr. Seuss)
Mrs. in the Hat was the wife of the Cat in the Hat and the mother of Cat Jr. She died in an accident, leaving the Cat and widower. Not much is known about her, at least not in comparison to her famous husband, but she was noted as being a gentle, calm, very formidable personality.
She owned a hat repair shop which is where the Cat in the Hat met her and fell in love at first sight (says him). He would often ruin his own hat or variations thereof just to have an excuse to see her. Though she wasn’t alarmed by him, she would decline every offer her made to take her on a date, as she wasn’t looking for romance and thought of him as little more than a nuisance. When her fuse was up with him, the Cat apologized and wished to take her on a platonic dinner date to make up for being so clingy - after which he promised never to bother her again. Said date turned into something more and before you knew it they were engaged, married, and had a son who looked just like his father. The Cat and her shared a lot of familiar pass times, including singing, skating, balancing and performing arts, and of course - hats! Her death is something he never fully recovered from.
Trivia:
-She is not a cat. She looks cat like and has feline features, but she is not a cat.
-Her full name is Helena Fofelena Aberisse Nootenella L. P. Fishhead. Helena, being a reference to Dr. Seuss’s first wife.
-Her cousin was Gus a Fuss (the angry, yellow dude from Green Eggs and Ham).
-Cat did all the cooking. She was a horrendous cook.
