I'll need to change his name too!
Any ideas for acronyms?
- Why a dragon? -
Originally, GA-M02's concept was that of an equine- hence the hooves. However, it was changed as it evoked the "Madagascar" saga too much.
Playing around with shapes and accesories, it ended up becoming a dragon, which in turn is fitting: Many people's first drawings are related to this creatures.
- Why is the battery indicator in it's legs? -
Because Leo is so small, it's the first thing he sees!
- Objectives to the design -
I wanted the big guy to be the complex design, yet not be the focal point of the duo
At the same time, I didn't want it to be *too* detailed, or it'd clash with Leo's minimalistic designed too much, so I thought of using a modern-unit robot.
The rounder shapes make it look it's own character in contrast to Leo's sharp edges, but it's legs mirror directly Leo's fluffy arms, bringing the two together.
I too desired to make a complex character that was still somehow viable for merch, animation and plush-making: keeping his shapes simple and markings minimal while placing the metal unions almost tracing the plush's rims.
