the deer is the train, and also the staff and all the guests, because if you're inside of her she's allowing you to survive by becoming your author temporarily while in the void, where characters otherwise cannot survive! she's YOU when you're riding her

it's ok, it's less scary when you realize that's how every world works, and the only way out is to become a world yourself

sure hope Doomtrain's a good enough author to accurately define where it ends and the passengers begin, don't want your customers to leave with bits and pieces of the train lodged in their metanarrative, or vice versa. or get dissolved into the train's story and cease to be distinct enough from the train to be separated at the destination. or vice versa. cus there's always the possibility that the train gets so infatuated with a new character that the work starts to be about that character instead of, ya know, the thing the thing was supposed to be about. wouldn't want the train to turn into grody passenger fanfiction in mid-clikclak.

everyone has an Identity, which is a little pocket of information that says "this is what this character acts like, this is what's important to them, here's how they'd react to situations" that is also a living thing itself, that attempts to arrange its ground floor manifestation in such a way that it automatically responds to input in the correct manner

although less kind worlds might make edits to that from the bottom up to better fit the character into the world's story

as a train her conceit is pretty simple, and it's not hard for everyone to play along with her, so she doesn't need to do more than provide a story exchange to keep people from hemorrhaging into the void

but, yes

there is always the concern that a world will look at you and go "oh man i wanna keep this" and just

override you and make you theirs

it costs things on the world's part but it can be worth it
