Many millennia ago, a race of Demons lost their Abyssal homeland when a 'Sleeper Under The Black' (A Deep Dweller) was roused to nearly waking. The survivors scattered into Shadow (the multiverse of coporeal realities that exist between the poles of Order and Chaos) and formed back up with a singular mission. To keep the Sleeper who nearly wiped them out, and its brtheren, from ever rising again. They do this by searching Shadow for battles they may join, decimating their deeds of violence and daring to the dreams of their gods. To kep them dreaming is to keep them asleep. This the original name of the people fell away to a new one that incorporated this eternal mission: The Never-Wake.
Never-Wake have lengthy arms, large hands, and digitigrade feet with prominent dewclaws. Their claws are extremely powerful, capable of tearing through metal. They are born covered in pale to white fur save for a facial 'mask' of bone that reveals only large, black eyes. As they mature, their skin toughens and the fur falls away. Leaving only a crest at the backs of theirs heads. Heads which also develop horns as the demon approaches maturity. Their tails end in two tips, which are used to express the emotions their faces cannot.
